BANK OF AFRICA - UGANDA Ltd
is a member of the BANK OF AFRICA Group. The Group operates through
a network of 11 commercial banks in Africa and has been in existence
since 1982. In addition to commercial banking, the BANK OF AFRICA
Group is equally active in the fields of insurance, mortgage,
leasing and stock brokerage.
Over the years, the BANK OF AFRICA Group has developed expertise in
being an "all public" Bank providing banking services to large
international corporate companies, middle size local businesses as
well as retail and small business. Bank of Africa is one of the
largest Banking Groups in West Africa and continues to grow from
strength to strength in Africa with the ambition of becoming a truly
Pan African Bank.
BANK OF AFRICA-UGANDA Ltd
is a registered limited liability company and a Bank of Uganda regulated
financial institution. The Bank has positioned itself as an SME Bank
and has over the years engaged in a number of activities targeting
SME development, beyond SME finance. These include organising
business clinics for clients (existing and potential) in subject
areas that cover both financial and non financial aspects of
enterprise improvement and development. The Bank has also developed
a number of SME products including one that specifically targets
women entrepreneurs. The Bank is active in the Corporate and
Retail sectors and expects higher market penetration with the
current branch expansion programme.
The Bank increased its network from five branches in October
2006 to eleven fully fledged branches by the close of 2008. Five of these are upcountry, plus one
cash centre and all are networked, enabling you to do your banking
anywhere in the network. We have also expanded our ATM network and
are currently working on establishing offsite ATMs to strengthen our
service footprint. In an expansion drive and to make our services
available to most Ugandans across the country, seven new branches
will be opened in 2009 and linked to the network. Other
forms of technology driven service points are on our menu, as is the
link with our sister banks in East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania and
Burundi) where we have a presence.
The Bank has had an impact on the social scene through a number of
corporate social responsibility activities including support to
displaced people in Northern Uganda, partnering with the Lions Club
to support the disabled, support to flood victims in Eastern Uganda,
contributions to Uganda Women business groups, blood donation, as
well as contributions to children’s homes and hospitals. The Bank is
gladly continuing in this commitment.
